Our Organisation-

Centrally located in the Thames Gateway, Gravesham Borough Council provides a range of services to over 106,000 people and 4,000 businesses.

The Borough of Gravesham, situated in the north west corner of Kent, covers 25,000 acres of the most varied countryside in south east England.

Bordered by the River Thames to the north, it is at the heart of Thames Gateway and has a significant role to play in the regeneration of a major government growth area.

Gravesham Borough Council is committed to delivering to the community and working with us means you are part of delivering the level of growth and improvement our community needs and deserves.

The role- We are seeking highly motivated individuals with good communication skills and the ability to deal calmly and professionally with difficult situations.

As a Civil Enforcement Officer (CEO), you will carry out the enforcement of parking restrictions, on foot and by vehicle throughout the entire borough of Gravesham.  You will be required to patrol both on street and in car parks and, if necessary, issue penalty charge notices to vehicles found to be parked contravening the parking restrictions that are in force.

You will be required to assist the general public with any Council related enquires to provide high levels of customer satisfaction and you will be required to report issues such as pot holes, streetlights, abandoned cars, graffiti, and rubbish to the relevant department/agency, acting as the Councils ‘eyes and ears’ so as to improve the streetscene environment.

Essential qualifications/experience- We are looking for an officer, who will be able to work over a 7 day week shift pattern in a front line enforcement role.  You should be able to demonstrate good literacy and numeracy skills, be a good communicator and understand the importance of good customer service skills.  Ideally you will have experience of working in a public facing role and be able to work well as part of a team.  The role requires full Disclosure and Barring (DBS) clearance and a full UK driving licence.

Desirable qualifications/experience – It would be advantageous to have parking enforcement experience, and have basic knowledge of the Highway code and Traffic Management Act 2004.  It would be desirable if you are familiar with the local area.
