The role

You will be working with The Count Me in Project which is part of the Camden Integrated Youth Support Service. The Count Me In Project works with young people with learning disabilities and autism. As a Specialist Youth Worker you will be responsible for engaging young people with a range of support needs.
The Post has been created through funding from The Department of Educations’ Short Breaks Innovation Fund to support young people with learning disabilities and or emotional and behavioural difficulties. The programme will increase access to universal services such as The Count Me In Project, so supporting young people to prepare for adulthood.

You will be expected to use your youth work skills to engage with and mentor young people and identify any barriers to their engagement. You will also liaise with colleagues and partners both within Camden’s services and its voluntary sector to promote opportunities for young people and engage with parents individually as well as creating parent forums to inform and support them.

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and will require an Enhanced DBS.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and creative Specialist Youth Worker with significant demonstrable experience of direct work with young people. They will have the ability to analyse information from a range of sources to identify the needs of young people and target resources appropriately. The successful candidates will be a confident communicator who possess a qualification in the relevant field such as a Level 3 or above qualification in Youth and Community work or significant experience in working with young people. The ideal candidates will have proven experience of planning, developing, coordinating and delivering programs of work with young people. Experience of working with young people with learning disabilities and or challenging behavior is desirable.
