About the role / service
As a Taxi Enforcement Officer, your primary role will be to ensure that licensed drivers, vehicles and operators are compliant with the law and the Council’s policies and conditions in order to promote public safety. You will carry out patrols during office hours however flexibility will be required depending on the needs of the service. You will conduct tests/ inspections of all licensed vehicles, drivers and operator premises. You will be responsible for investigating offences, including conducting interviews under caution, and carrying out any resultant action such as issuing warnings/ suspensions/ revocation notices, drafting and presenting reports to the Regulatory Committee or Taxi Licensing Sub-Committee and preparing files for prosecution and attending Court.
You will report to the Licensing Manager and work with two Licensing Officers. There are also two Solicitors within the department.
About you (the prospective candidate)
You will be a Taxi Enforcement Officer. However, training will be available for the right candidate. So if you have experience in taxi licensing and/ or a good working knowledge of PACE, we want to hear from you!
You must be able to work alone and at unsociable hours. You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work accurately, adhere to tight deadlines and prioritise workload. You will also be confident and able to deal with difficult people.
