Assistant Parks Manager - Cemeteries

Salary:  £31,099 – £33,820 per annum , plus Essential Car User Allowance

The Cemeteries & Crematorium Team in Halton Borough Council’s Environment Services Division, are responsible for providing and managing welcoming green spaces for the bereaved.  The Team also ensure these spaces provide wider environmental and bio-diverse habitats and contribute to the Council’s long-term vision for its cemetery grounds and overall environmental targets.  The role will take overall responsibility for the burial process and will also assist in the management of Widnes Crematorium.

As well as taking responsibility for the management of front line staff, the role will oversee all operational work tasks, landscape maintenance and inspections to ensure public safety and high standard of care. The role will also be integral to the continued development of electronic and IT systems as the service further enhances online systems for data, asset management and day-to-day planning.

As part of the Council Division that leads on the creation of new public realm and open spaces, the successful candidate will be heavily involved in the planning of new cemetery and crematorium facilities with an opportunity to shape the development of these exciting ideas from the outset.

The post holder will demonstrate good people skills and an ability to work unsupervised and in a team role as required. The post holder will also be able to communicate their ideas to a broad audience and be capable of skilled and careful negotiation with understanding and compassion in sensitive situations.
