Assistant Housing & Health Officer
About the Role:
We are looking to recruit a highly motivated individual to join our busy Housing & Health Team, part of the Housing & Community Service unit, on a full time, permanent contract.
As part of a small friendly team the successful candidate will deal with a range of issues affecting housing and health for individuals and communities across the Borough.
A strong team player, with a keen interest in improving housing conditions you will contribute to the efficient and effective performance of the team. You will be assisting the Team in undertaking investigations and inspections of dwellings and houses in multiple occupation (HMO’S); licensing HMO’s; preparation and service of relevant statutory notices; considering other enforcement action where necessary and providing related advice and assistance to residents. The role will also support the delivery of the Council’s housing assistance schemes and other domestic energy efficiency retrofit initiatives.
This role is customer-facing and the ability to converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English is an essential element of the role.
We will also offer training and guidance in order for you to progress within your career.
The role allows hybrid working with opportunities to work remotely and from the Council offices.
About You:
The successful candidate will have excellent organisational, IT, customer care and communication skills.
You will need to be highly motivated, work well within a team as well as on your own initiative, with the ability to prioritise and complete a variety of tasks in a busy and demanding environment. Multi-tasking where appropriate, you will need to bring your proven knowledge and experience to the role.
You will need to demonstrate recent experience of working within a housing or support service environment and be aware of how housing can impact on an individual’s mental and physical wellbeing. You will need access to a car and have a full driving licence.
