Principal Planning Enforcement Officer
There has never been a more exciting time to join Halton Borough Council, growth in Halton is accelerating fast and we have recently adopted our new Delivery and Allocations Local Plan which has seen a need for us to grow our team. We are looking for a Principal Planning Enforcement Officer to manage a complex caseload of enforcement, planning applications and related matters.
About the role
As the Principal Planning Enforcement Officer, you will manage a full range of enforcement matters, planning applications and associated consents, Section 106 negotiations, professional analysis and appraisal, and deal with planning appeals and Inquiries. The role will have responsibility for managing and monitoring money received and spent via section 106 agreements and act as a facilitator to coordinate departments in the delivery of the planning process. You will be undertaking formal presentations to the Development Control Committee and liaise with elected members, statutory agencies, the public and other bodies on planning matters.
About you
The successful post holder will have a degree or equivalent in Town Planning or related discipline ideally recognised by the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) and experience in dealing with enforcement and planning matters. You will have Knowledge of relevant legislation such as Town and Country planning act, Listed Building and Conservation Act, Development Management Procedure Order, and ecology/habitat legislation. Ideally, the post holder will have chartered Membership of the RTPI however this is not essential for the post.
The successful candidate for the role of Principal Planning Enforcement Officer will have:
- Experience in negotiating planning obligations and the ability to deal with a range of planning appeals.
- Knowledge of planning policy and appeals
- Experience in liaising with various stakeholders and preparing reports.
