Harborough District Council’s vision is to work with communities in a vibrant, safe and prosperous district and to bring the best opportunities to all.

We are seeking highly motivated individuals with great communication skills and the ability to deal calmly and professionally with sometimes difficult and sensitive situations.

As a Civil Enforcement Officer, you are the eyes and ears of the local community, patrolling areas, providing advice to residents, and members of the public, whist enforcing road traffic orders and issuing Parking Charge Notices to vehicles which contravene the regulations. You will play a significant role in reducing traffic congestion, and improving air quality through the enforcement of parking restrictions.

You will be supported in your role by a great team, made up of other Civil Enforcement Officers, Parking Supervisors and a Parking Services Manager. Your day will be spent, mostly outside, in all weathers, so please consider this before you apply. You will be dealing with members of the public face to face, so providing great customer service must be something that you enjoy.

The successful candidate will be able to adapt to different situations and show assertiveness where required, whilst remaining calm and diplomatic. You must have good people skills and be willing to offer support, advice and assistance to colleagues and customers. Technological skills would also be an advantage, as this role requires the use of a handheld device to log and maintain accurate data.

A full current driving license and access to a vehicle for work purposes is essential as there is a requirement to travel to other locations within the county of Leicestershire.

Your working week will include some Saturday, Sunday and early evening working. There will be an enhanced rate for working Sunday. There will be some opportunities for overtime.

Full training will be given so previous experience in a similar role is not essential.

Applicants for the role will be subject to a standard DBS check.

If you are interested in applying for this role the Council offers all employees some great benefits in return. These include; generous annual leave entitlement, an extra bank holiday each year, the opportunity to purchase up to one weeks extra annual leave, generous pension scheme and we are also an apprenticeship friendly employer promoting learning and development across the organisation.

All applicants should be aware that any employee, who is at threat of redundancy at the time of a position being advertised, will have priority status.
