About the role

As part of the Housing Mechanical and Electrical Team you will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of high quality and reliable mechanical and electrical services in our properties. Alongside a team of four specialist engineers, you will manage specialist contracts such as fire alarms, emergency lighting and warden call installations ensuring value for money, quality, compliance and excellent customer service.

You will be responsible for managing specialist mechanical and electrical services within the housing service, providing comprehensive servicing, responsive repairs and maintenance service through contractors and 'in house' teams where needed. You will be working as part of a team of five engineers and contract managers managing a range of mechanical and electrical services, the focus of your role will be oversight of fire alarms, emergency lighting and warden call systems.

You will be part of the Housing Investment & Asset Management Service which delivers a wide range of projects across asset management, sustainability and energy, mechanical & electrical and planned and major capital works for our housing stock of approximately 12,500 properties.

The aim of the service is to focus on improving housing quality and supply, achieving carbon reductions, improving the services and living conditions of our residents and reducing homelessness across the city.

We are looking for a hard working and organised individual who has:

- knowledge and understanding of a range of mechanical and electrical services

- experience of procurement and contract management

- the ability to manage programmes

- experience of financial monitoring

- an understanding of compliance frameworks

As part of the team you will need to ensure good links with our Repairs and Maintenance service and planned and major works investment programmes. All programmes will be delivered in line with the council’s Housing Asset Management Strategy and corporate objectives.

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is less than 37 hours or term-time only.
