About the role

Everybody has a story, could you be part of Edith’s?

Edith used to be a nurse and helped others in her life. But now, following a fall, Edith needs help to live independently at home again. Could you help Edith to regain her independence and her confidence? If you think you can, we will teach you the skills to help support Edith to remain at home during her recovery and how to encourage her to participate with her rehabilitation programme.

We’re looking for caring and passionate people who want to make a real difference to the lives of others, such as Edith’s.

You don’t need any experience; we will train you and there are lots of opportunities for development;

As a Support Worker, you will assist older adults who have had a spell of illness get back to independence in their own home. Working alongside other professionals, you may initially be providing some personal care, helping with therapy exercises, and giving emotional support to help clients regain the skills and confidence they need to manage these everyday tasks themselves.

We are looking for candidates who:

  • are patient, kind and caring
  • have a car and the ability to meet the travel requirements of the post
  • have a commitment to helping others

There are permanent contracts available ranging from 18 to 30 hours per week. You will be required to work weekends and a combination of daytime and evening shifts.

Full-time staff receive 24 days holiday per year, plus bank holidays – this is pro-rata’d for part-time staff.

The salary is from £22,778 (£11.81 per hour) to £23,194 (£12.02 per hour) per annum pro-rata.

This role is in the Joint Community Rehabilitation (JCR) team, a partnership between East Sussex County Council and East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust.

The JCR team help people to:

  • remain in their own home and maximise their independence
  • avoid going into hospital unnecessarily
  • become independent as soon as possible after a stay in hospital
