ARBORICULTURAL OFFICER – Countryside and Landscape
Salary range £30,301 - £32,950
Hours 36 per week
Holiday entitlement - 28 days per annum
Based in Debden
An opportunity has arisen within the Council’s Countryside and Landscape Service for a suitably experienced and qualified individual to join the team as an Arboricultural Officer.
You will be responsible for overall management of the Council’s large and varied tree stock located in streets, open spaces and woodlands across the District. Duties will include the day-to-day supervision of a major tree maintenance contract and overseeing the work of contactors associated with this. You will be required to plan and develop tree planting projects and also supervise a member of staff completing this and other basic tree maintenance operations.
You will be required to liaise with members of the public and various clients on a regular basis, providing technical advice and guidance on a broad range of arboricultural matters. You will be expected to undertake and record tree inspections, compile reports, work specifications and effectively manage associated budgets.
You should have previous experience in a similar role and hold appropriate arboricultural qualifications. Good tree identification is essential together with a thorough working knowledge of current arboricultural practices & techniques and associated machinery & equipment. You should have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal and be computer literate. A full clean driving license is required.
