We are recruiting for a Senior Finance Assistant to join our Exchequer Team.
As a valued colleague, you shall undertake a dynamic role and be pivoting across a number of our core functions; namely, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Income Management.
Account Payables: Within the creditors’ team, you will assist with the responsibility for accurately processing and managing all invoices and payments for the Council. This role ensures adherence to the Council’s policies and procedures; processing payments timely; and having effective communication to confidently liaise with a range of external and internal stakeholders which includes both finance and non-finance persons. &nbsp;
You will also be involved in the creation and amendement of supplier details from Service Area requests; carrying out due diligence on new supplier requests; and receiving, reviewing, and verifing invoices for accuracy, completeness, and appropriate approvals before processing invoices for payment. 
Accounts Receivables: You will support with the effective day-to-day activities of the debtors’ team, dealing with all aspects of invoicing, debtors’ accounts maintenance and collection of sundry debt.
You will be involved in the set-up and amendments of debtors’ accounts as requested by Service, and verifying invoices raised to ensure that information is correct and that the appropriate VAT treament is applied.
You shall also work alongside colleagues with a focus on collecting unpaid sundry debt in a fair and ethical manner. This will involve handling verbal and written communications from customers to negotiate sustainable instalment payment arrangments in an empathetic and compassionate manner.
Income Management: In this team, you will be instrumental in the successful delivery of our Council’s corporate banking functions. You shall deal with tasks such as investigating unallocated income including cheques, clearing the suspense account, obtaining daily bank statements, and coordinating payment requests from both internal and external customers. Resolving customer queries will also be key aspects of your role.
As a customer-focused post with exposure to a wide range of people from different life situations, the successful candidate will have a friendly and positive disposition. You must be an individual who is driven to deliver excellent customer care to our local residents and businesses.
Experience of public sector finance and and practical knowledge of computerised financial ledger systems is desirable. If you are actively studying or a recently qualified AAT Technican (Level 4) then this would also be seen as advantageous. Proficiency in MS Office Suite, especially Excel, are essential.
This role will offer variety, ushering oppoutnities to inherit a wealth of knowledge from our most learned colleagues. You must therefore possess an aptitude to learn and ability to incorporate different working practices. You shall be capable in achieving stretching targets and the ability to work adaptably in order meet tight deadlines and changing circumstances. This includes being self-organised and motivated, with the confidence to work on your own initiative and as part of a team.

The Countryside Team manages over 250 hectares of land within the District of Cannock Chase for the purposes of wildlife conservation and informal public recreation including a Site of Special Scientific Interest, three Local Nature Reserves, Local Wildlife Sites, and a Scheduled Ancient Monument. Habitats include woodland, heathland, wetland, and species rich grassland. The sites are grazed by our own herd of Dexter cattle and are predominantly urban or urban fringe in nature. The primary role of the team is to ensure that these sites are maintained to a high standard both for wildlife conservation purposes and public enjoyment.
We are looking for a full time Countryside Estate Worker, with experience of working with volunteers and having a good practical knowledge and experience of countryside management techniques for nature conservation. As well as being able to demonstrate managing a wide range of habitat types, the successful candidate will be competent in the use of agricultural &amp; horticultural machinery, chainsaws, brush cutters and power tools. Experience in managing cattle would be an advantage. Heavy manual outdoor work will be required.
In addition, you should have the ability to communicate clearly and effectively face to face and by telephone, demonstrating courtesy and tact in dealing with the general public and giving clear instructions to volunteers. The ability to carry out site inspections and maintain records are also essential requirements of the role.
Candidates will ideally have an understanding of wildlife and countryside legislation and possess appropriate qualifications in the safe use of forestry equipment and pesticide application. Possession of a valid full UK driving licence is an essential requirement.
The post will include regular rostered weekends inc. Bank Holidays, mainly over the winter period to look after the cattle. Hours of work are 8:30am to 16:25pm with occasional out of hours working required.

 About the Role You will be responsible for assisting the Revenues &amp; Benefits Quality Assurance Manager in providing quality assurance on the Local Taxation and Benefits functions (Council Tax, Business Rates, BID’s and Benefits). To find out more and prepare your application please see the JD here We are looking for experienced and committed Independent Domestic Violence advocates, or those with a Social Work Qualification,&nbsp;to offer a direct response offer to tackle domestic abuse (DA) experienced by children and young people across and early intervention approach, offering intensive support for children and young people under the age of 25.&nbsp; About the Role As a Children and Young People’s Domestic Violence Advisor (CIDVA) you will.&nbsp; 1.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Provide support to children and young people who have been victims of abuse, assaulted and/or abused by a peer, parent or close family member, or witnessed abuse.&nbsp; 2.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Deliver an intensive, 12-week intervention through a trauma-responsive, child-centred approach lens, working with children and young people in the spaces and places where ‘they-are-at’.&nbsp; 3.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Ensure all children and young people have a voice across understanding their experience, what has happened to them and will be instrumental in directing the work programme across a support offer that is relevant to them.&nbsp; 4.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Take the lead in managing positive interventions that prevent deterioration in health and wellbeing whilst safeguarding children and young people at risk of abuse or neglect. 5.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; To contribute to and support the Newham Together Vision including the implementation of our Strategic Improvement Plan for Children’s Services; the Children and Young People’s plan and Domestic Abuse Delivery Model Action Plan. &nbsp;6.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Increase feelings of safety for children and young people by delivering one-to-one interventions to children and young people, as well as make referrals to other appropriate agencies (both statutory or non-statutory), provide coaching, child-focused workshops and deliver training across healthy relationships. 7.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Provide support to other practitioners who are working directly with high-risk, children and young people (including in partner agencies and VCFS) to shape and deliver a relational and trauma-informed programme of structured support that will help children and young people.&nbsp; 8.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; To be an active member of the team, to work collaboratively with colleagues and external stakeholders to achieve our service plans and priorities around Domestic Abuse.&nbsp; 9.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; To champion our priorities and obsessions to improve the lives of children, families and care leavers, contribute to workforce development and advocate for young people with agencies.&nbsp; 10.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; To work therapeutically with children and young people using creative engagement techniques.
