What will you be doing? As a Gas Engineer, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety, efficiency, and functionality of gas installations and maintenance across the Council’s housing stock and corporate properties.Working independently or as part of a team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality gas services in compliance with regulations and safety standards. Key responsibilities include:<ul>
<li>Carry out gas maintenance and repair works as specified in work orders.</li>
<li>Undertake gas installation and maintenance tasks within your designated area, ensuring all work aligns with current Risk Assessments &amp; Method Statements (RAMS)&nbsp;and Safe Systems of Work (SSOW).</li>
<li>Maintain the necessary qualifications, training, and industry registration&nbsp;to ensure compliance and competency.</li>
<li>Use mobile devices&nbsp;to complete reports, certifications, order materials, and request follow-up work.</li>
<li>Ensure all work is completed in accordance with Gas Installation and Use Regulations 1998&nbsp;and the latest Gas Industry Unsafe Situations Procedure.</li>
<li>Manage van stock of materials&nbsp;and ensure vehicle maintenance, including cleaning and fuel level checks.</li>
<li>Adhere to asbestos-related responsibilities&nbsp;and training requirements.</li>
<li>Follow safe working practices, comply with the Council’s Health &amp; Safety policy, and ensure all PPE and tools are maintained and used appropriately.</li>
</ul>About you To excel in this role, you will be a qualified and registered Gas Engineer&nbsp;with the technical expertise and experience to carry out installations, repairs, and maintenance effectively. You will have a strong commitment to safety, customer service, and continuous professional development.<ul>
<li>CCN1 Core Gas Safety&nbsp;certification.</li>
<li>Hold current gas registration.</li>
<li>Certified in CPA1, CKR1, CENWAT1, MET1, HTR1, Range Cooker, and Unvented Hot Water.</li>
<li>Practical experience in gas installations and repairs.</li>
<li>Strong awareness of health and safety regulations.</li>
<li>Ability to use electronic devices&nbsp;for reporting and work management.</li>
<li>Literate and numerate, with the ability to complete accurate documentation.</li>
<li>Excellent customer care and interpersonal skills, with a focus on delivering a high-quality service.</li>
<li>Motivated team player&nbsp;with a proactive approach to work.</li>
<li>Awareness and understanding of equal opportunities&nbsp;relevant to the role.</li>
<li>Valid driving licence&nbsp;essential for travel between work locations.</li>
<li>Willingness to undertake training, including CAT B asbestos training, and stay up to date with regulatory changes</li>
