This Committee reviews the effectiveness of our governance and risk management arrangements.
As an Independent member on the Committee, you will serve an important role bringing independent scrutiny to the Committee’s work.
You’ll need to have the skills and experience in one or more of the following areas: local government, governance, audit, finance risk management and internal control. You should also have a connection with the Sevenoaks District, for example living or working here. You’ll need to attend around four evening committee meetings each year.

Reporting to the Senior Housing Standards Officer, in this role you'll be responsible for improving housing standards across the Borough by working pro-actively and providing advice and guidance, undertaking detailed property inspections, and taking appropriate enforcement action using a wide range of relevant legislation, including licensing, to reduce hazards in housing in the private sector. With the forthcoming Renters’ Rights Bill finalising its journey through Parliament, and a current consultation across Woking Borough for the introduction of Additional Licensing of Houses in Multiple Occupation, you will be at the forefront of major changes within the sector.
We are looking for someone with experience in Housing Standards and a knowledge of housing legislation across all areas of housing standards. This is a varied role suited to someone with excellent customer service skills and knowledge and experience of residential property and tenancies. It is important that you have a positive and confident outlook, experience of working with diverse client groups and can communicate accurately and effectively with a wide range of people.&nbsp;
There is the opportunity to undertake a Level 4 Apprenticeship in Regulatory Compliance with a focus on Housing.
The interview will include a short written element.
This role requires the post holder to hold a valid full driver’s licence.

<li>In the role of a Structural Engineer, you will assess the acceptability of submissions made under the provisions of the Building Regulations in accordance with British Standards, European Codes of practice and any other relevant Codes of Practice</li>
<li>The Structural Engineer will use professional judgement to determine which matters are to be considered in submissions of any size, basis, complexity, or construction as the workload of the section dictates</li>
<li>As a Structural Engineer you will maintain, support and develop close working relations with other Sections and Service Areas and to attend site as required.&nbsp;Be responsible to the Principal Structural Engineer and the Head of Building Control for the administration and enforcement of relevant legislation in the implementation of council policies, programmes, and procedure</li>
<li>The Structural Engineer will be responsible to the Principal Structural Engineer in relation to structural appraisals</li>
<li>For the role of a Structural Engineer, you will provide consultancy services in relation to structural design checking for other Local Authority Building Control bodies and the participation in the emergency out of hours Building Control service</li>

We have an exciting opportunity available for a Social Worker - Preparing for Adulthood to join our Award Winning Adult Social Care Service here at Wokingham Borough Council, on a Full-Time, Permanent basis.
As the Social Worker - Preparing for Adulthood, you will play a key role in working with young people from 14 to 25 as they transition into Adult Social Care. Within this position you will work within the relevant legal frameworks, guidance, policies, and procedures to undertake assessments, reviews and support planning with individuals and their carers, whilst promoting well-being, independence and safety.
You will support and enable people to identify their own needs and the outcomes they wish to achieve and to implement and review support plans to meet these needs and to liaise with other professional/agencies as required.

Key responsibilities:
<ul>
<li>To work in accordance with the Care Act 2014 to assess, review or reassess complex needs of customers and their carers, offering advice and guidance and access to support services in line with their eligible needs, with an emphasis on health, safety and wellbeing for vulnerable individuals and those that care for them.</li>
<li>To adopt a strengths-based approach to the role and maintain a professional and respectful working relationship with individual customers and carers. To work in a person-centred way, ensuring that individual dignity is maintained, cultural background and communication needs are addressed, and choices and aspirations are listened to and acknowledged</li>
<li>To undertake risk assessments and formulate risk management plans, having regard for the safety of customers and others, whilst promoting independence and supporting positive risk enablement where appropriate.</li>
<li>To identify and/or make enquiries concerning any allegations of potential abuse or neglect of adults with care and support needs with a view to the development and implementation of safeguarding plans which maintain their safety, and the safety of others, within the multi-agency safeguarding adults procedures.</li>
<li>To interpret and analyse varied and complex information or situations and work with relevant others to create solutions</li>
<li>To work collaboratively with individuals, their carers, families and other stakeholders to gather information for the purpose of assessing and reviewing the individual’s needs and in order to identify the best options available to meet the identified needs</li>

Candidate requirements:

<li>Current registration to professional governing body - Social Work England</li>
<li>Experience in a Social Care or health care environment</li>

<li>Demonstrable experience in interpreting and analysing varied and complex information to produce solutions</li>
