Assistant Director Planning and Garden Town

Harlow, Essex (Hybrid)
Permanent, Full time
£83,306 - £95,000 per annum, AD Grade
(banking 30 minutes per week towards the shut down between Christmas and New Year)
Harlow Council is embarking on a journey of significant transformation, and we are looking for talented leaders to help write a new chapter for our iconic new town.
We are seeking leaders who are passionate about driving innovation in local government and are keen to realise the huge potential of Harlow – the fastest growing place in the country.
We have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Director Planning and Garden Town to join us at this time of major transformation.
The successful candidate will lead, inspire and develop a range of teams proving high-quality services for our residents. The post will have an assigned portfolio of functions, which may vary from time to time. Currently these include:
* Forward Planning
* Development Management
* Building Control
* Harlow and Gilston Garden Town
As a dynamic and experienced professional, you will bring extensive knowledge and experience of the functions listed above, and a proactive approach to financial and commercial challenges. You will also have working knowledge of relevant legislation and the ability to network and manage/develop positive relationships with stakeholders.
As an Assistant Director, you will also support the Executive Management Team in the leadership and management of the Council. Working across organisational boundaries as one team to transform how the Council delivers the Corporate Plan and associated priorities.
