These are exciting times at Tunbridge Wells Borough Council, with work towards the final version of a new Local Plan progressing at pace. Following promotion of the previous post holder, we are currently looking to recruit a new Graduate Planning Assistant to a 2 year fixed term vacancy to work in the Planning Policy department.
The work is pressurised but rewarding, with an opportunity to be involved in policy formation, research, evidence gathering and analysis, report writing and presentations on a range of policy issues. There is also opportunity to be involved in our work supporting local Parish and Town Councils who are in the process of progressing Neighbourhood Plans.
The successful candidate will have a degree in Geography, Economics, Environmental Science, Town Planning or other similar subject and have experience of working in a team environment. You will be IT literate, and have a high level of literacy and numeracy.
The ideal candidate will be a friendly and approachable person who is keen to develop their understanding of planning and is willing to get involved, is thorough, adaptable and welcomes a challenge.
The majority of previous holders of this role have progressed to permanent employment at TWBC as Planning Officers when vacancies have arisen, so this post represents a great opportunity to begin your career in planning.
A detailed list of responsibilities and person criteria can be viewed in the Job Description and Person Specification documents below. For an informal discussion, please contact Sharon Evans, Ellen Gilbert or Deborah Dixon (all Principal Planning Officers) on 01892 554056.
