An opportunity has arisen to apply for the post of Transport Officer within the Hertfordshire Admissions and Transport department. The SEN School Transport team work closely with some of Hertfordshire’s most vulnerable young people and their families, schools, colleges and internal & external partners to individually assess applications for transport for children and young people (up to the age of 25) with EHCPs.
The successful candidate will be expected to operate effectively within a team environment, working with an individual caseload as well as part of a small cohesive team. In the role you will need to be able to work well under pressure, achieving tight deadlines, have the ability to successfully and consistently interpret and implement set transport policies and have excellent written and oral communication skills. You will have regular contact with schools, parents and other professionals and will work closely with the Contracts Management team who are responsible for arranging the transport contracts. Given the vulnerability of many children and their families; tact, courtesy, discretion and empathy are vital attributes of the successful candidate.
