Transformational Officer - Libraries
This is an exciting new role to help Barnsley’s Library Service transform the its offer and build on the success of our new town centre Library@TheLightbox. You will be part of the team working with local communities to deliver a £1million refurbishment programme across our community libraries over the next 3 years. You will also be the lead for identifying and securing external funding to bring new services, events and activities to all our libraries. As part of our exciting agenda for change, this role provides the opportunity to work closely with communities, help us to create community and digital hubs and deliver an innovative and diverse programme of activities.

Your role in our journey
As Transformational Officer, you’ll generate income for the Service by identifying opportunities and sources of external funding or sponsorship for projects, events and activities. We will look to you to manage successful projects and initiatives and identify innovative approaches to the delivery of new services and activities for customers. As a key member of the Libraries Management Team you will play an integral role in delivering the refurbishment programme for our community libraries, including project management. This role will enable you to use your creativity to shape our future services and follow projects from concept to completion.
What you’ll need
To join us, you’ll need a Level 5 qualification in a relevant subject and be willing to undertake the Council’s leadership programme. Crucially, you have significant experience in developing successful funding bids and experience of managing successful, complex projects. You will have experience in managing budgets and grant funding and of developing a range of different partnerships. You will have a strong commitment to deliver outstanding customer service, excellent communication skills, imagination and a positive, ‘can do’ attitude.
