Wandsworth is a busy and diverse inner London borough which is growing rapidly with a mobile and demanding population. Wandsworth is one of the most politically contested London boroughs, reflected in our recent local elections, and this is fully reflected in the work of our electoral services team.



We are a forward-thinking team who are supportive of each other both personally and professionally.



You will:




  • Assist the Electoral Registration Officer in the maintenance of a complete and accurate Register of Electors.

  • Assist the Returning Officer in the organisation and management of all elections and referendums in the borough.

  • Provide highly competent administrative support to the service covering all aspects of its work including maintaining the register of electors, absent votes list and monthly alterations lists, organising and supporting data mining activity, meeting all statutory deadlines of the election timetable and many other aspects of our work.



About you:




  • You will have proven quick and accurate data entry skills and will update the bespoke electoral software system, an understanding of which would be an advantage.

  • You will have good working knowledge of electoral law and electoral procedures.

  • You will have excellent customer service skills and will deal with customers by telephone, email and face-to-face.

  • You will be able to organise, prioritise and manage your own work load, and cope well in a high-pressure environment is essential.

  • You will be able to work unsociable and extended hours at election and canvass time.
