Cannock Chase Council and Stafford Borough Council are committed to achieving excellence in the processing of Housing Benefit and Local Council Tax Support claims together with the recovery of overpaid benefit, from their shared Benefits Service.

The following opportunity has arisen for a candidate with the appropriate skills, experience and commitment to work in the shared Benefits Service. Whilst the successful candidate will be based primarily in Cannock, you may be required on occasion to work at sites across the Cannock Chase and Stafford Borough areas.

You should have previous experience in Local Authority Local Taxation and Benefits service or related area. You will also be able to understand and communicate effectively on complex and frequently changing legislation.

You must also have knowledge of Housing Benefit and Council Tax Reduction legislation and you must also be a committed team player who can work on own initiative and be committed to providing a quality customer focused service.

In addition, you should have IT skills in the use of Microsoft Office packages such as Word and Excel.

Holding an IRRV Technician Qualification and having experience at a management level would be desirable.
