Museum Education Officer (MDC 8233)
£17,389.44 - £21,197.74 pa, plus casual car user allowance as necessary
37 hours per week, 42 weeks per year (term time only)
This includes three additional weeks to prepare lessons and undertake additional tasks
You will be taking over a hugely successful and popular Education Department in a multi-award-winning museum. Currently on offer are fifteen separate whole-day sessions, all tightly focused on the needs of local (and not-so-local) teachers at KS1 and 2.
Your job will revolve around delivering these very varied topics and developing new ones as appropriate. At your disposal will be a dedicated, well-equipped classroom and a wealth of relevant resources, large and small.
A very helpful, friendly team of gallery assistants are on hand to help with preparation, in terms of both new session materials and the day-to-day replenishment and maintenance of all relevant items.
The programme is extremely well-established, with many schools returning time and again.
You will have the chance to interact with a wide range of local colleagues on a daily basis and to present the lessons in your own way, without many of the restrictions present in school.
If you enjoy teaching in a lively, imaginative, hands-on manner and are looking for something more open-ended than mainstream teaching, you need look no further.
The successful post holder will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS check.
