Are you a committed planning professional seeking a new career opportunity in a forward thinking, ambitious, and commercially focussed organisation? Or perhaps a recent graduate looking to take your first step into a career in planning?
We are seeking two motivated and capable individuals to join our Planning Policy team to help us shape the future of Reigate & Banstead. These roles are career graded, offering excellent opportunities and support for progression and development for the right candidate.
This is an exciting time for the Planning Policy Team. Situated between London and Gatwick Airport, Reigate & Banstead is a very popular place to live and work, bringing development pressures that need to be carefully managed and balanced alongside the borough’s attractive environment.
Our Development Management Plan will be adopted shortly and we have just commenced on a review of the Local Plan to ensure that we are able to effectively manage longer-term development.
As an important member of our team, you will be involved in shaping and delivering the new Plan right from the outset. As part of this, the successful candidates can expect to take ownership for particular topics; carrying out research, commissioning technical evidence and drafting policies. You will also assist with engaging with elected councillors, stakeholders and our residents through public consultations.
In addition to the Local Plan, the successful candidates will have the opportunity to work with colleagues across the Council and beyond on other initiatives including economic prosperity, regeneration, housing, infrastructure, and transport.
We are looking for someone with a town planning or related degree or qualification (ideally having obtained, or working towards RTPI membership). Practical planning experience is desirable. You must have excellent research, interpersonal and communication skills: attention to detail and a methodical approach to working are also vital.
We are able to offer a competitive salary, excellent terms and conditions and support in continuing your personal and career development through these career graded roles.
We’d love to hear from you and discuss how you could play a part in strengthening our Planning Policy team. For an informal discussion about these posts, please call Billy Clements (Planning Policy Manager) on 01737 276087.
We are proud to support the guaranteed interview schemes for those meeting the essential criteria for the role, under the Disability Confident employer scheme for disabled candidates, and the ‘Veteran’s scheme’ for ex-armed forces candidates.
Closing date: 14th July 2019
Interview date: Week commencing - 22nd July 2019
