About the Role
The Council’s in-house ICT Service is responsible for delivering ICT to in excess of 300 users located across 7 sites. As an ICT Service Desk Apprentice you will play an integral role supporting the Service Desk team in the delivery of 1st, 2nd and 3rd line support. The team supports an extensive range of systems and hardware ensuring that the Council is able to carry out its business. This is both a technical and customer focused role and will provide the successful candidate with a comprehensive foundation to ICT within a business environment.
You will need to be a self-motivated individual with good analytical, organisational and interpersonal skills. You will need to be comfortable working both as an individual and as a team player. You will need to be innovative and imaginative and have the confidence to challenge existing ideas. You will need a GCSE or equivalent in English and Maths at Grade C/4 or above or be willing to work towards a Level 2 in English, Maths and functional skills.
About the Apprenticeship
Within your apprenticeship you will develop your knowledge, skills and understanding to be able to respond to the ICT Service Desk demands. You will be working to complete the IT & Web Design Professionals–Advanced Apprenticeship (Level 3) Course which is run by Petroc College.
The apprenticeship process will take approximately 14-18 months to complete and will be supported with on and off-the-job training. There will also be time spent away from day to day duties to complete coursework and assignments, with the potential of 1 day per week at Petroc College.
In return, you will have the opportunity to broaden your knowledge in an ICT Service with the full support of an experienced team.
A satisfactory basic disclosure check and three years complete education/ employment history will be requested in the event of you being offered the position.
