ICT Project Manager
Substantive Grade: MM1 with market supplement up to £51,535.
(market supplement is reviewed annually)
Over the last few years, we’ve been on a huge transformation journey, bringing our ICT department back in-house. This is a big change for the business, as we re-establish the confidence in a wholly insourced service. It’s given us the opportunity to be ahead of the curve, adopting cutting-edge technology and innovating the structure of our systems and environment. In fact, while other councils have only just started to think about an approach like this, we’re already using technology similar to the private sector. It’s an exciting opportunity to influence ‘what’s next’, connect our ICT department with the wider organisation, and deliver tangible, positive outcomes for both the council and our local community.
We are looking to strengthen the ICT service, bringing in professionally dedicated and skilled staff into our permanent structure. We have several vacancies in our team and are keen to recruit candidates who can take responsibility, be open honest and respectful, actively listen and learn and work together to find solutions.
This role is for fast thinking Project Managers with excellent technical aptitude and ability to build effective relationships.
You will work within a matrix framework supporting projects in the ICT and Transformation programme, work closely with key stakeholders and servive departments to capture, develop and deliver on this programme. You will also work in close colloboration with other ICT colleagues such as Business Engagement Managers (BEM), Business Analysts/User Researchers, Technical Architects, Systems and Server Engineers and Applications Integration Engineers.
You will be involved from the inception of the project through to final delivery. You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to translate technical language into terms that are easily understood. You will also have first class customer skills, with an ability to work hand in hand with our Council services in order to impress the benefits of project management methodologies.
The demands of this role involve regularly delivering a number of competing projects, at times with demanding deadlines, on an on-going basis, with a range of complexities, from very complex to tactical, including understanding the impact the delivery of projects to the whole Council and beyond, to partner organisations.
