About the role
Burbank is an 'Outstanding' children's home that is looking to recruit a fun, enthusiastic and energetic new Gardener/Handyperson to join our well established team.
Burbank works to meet the needs of looked after children both male and female, between the ages of 10-18 working to create a stable foundation which will prepare them for the next stage of their lives.
The Gardener / Handyperson will be based at Burbank (Woking) and the role will encompass working within both the home and the garden. Working autonomously and as directed to take day to day responsibility for the general maintenance, safety and security.
They will undertake routine maintenance and checks of the building and grounds and undertake minor repairs as necessary to ensure our home remains safe and well maintained.
Ideally we would welcome an applicant that is happy and confident to work alongside our young people to help them gain some simple life skills and maybe to assist with some creative projects that involve the young people.
You will need to have some transferable DIY and gardening skills and the ability to develop positive and appropriate relationships.

Surrey County Council Residential homes can accommodate children up to 18 years of age. Due to legal requirements set out by the DFE national minimum standards the successful applicant is required to be at least 4 years older than our oldest accommodated child.
