We require an Assistant Support Worker to join an established team.
Spectrum is a Day Service for adults with learning disabilities, Autism & associated difficulties as well as behaviour that may challenge the Service. We provide support to service users to enable them to engage in leisure, recreational and educational activities. We also encourage access to community based activities using public transport as well as Service’ own transport. For this reason, the applicant will ideally have a full UK driving licence.
We are seeking one full time highly skilled and enthusiastic individual who is able to deliver high quality support and make a positive contribution to a diverse and dynamic team. The Service is already accredited by the National Autistic Society. The successful individual may end up playing a vital role in helping the team to implement any recommendations made by NAS.
Candidate must be experienced in identifying and meeting the needs of this complex client group. They should understand and promote the concept of community integration and familiar with Person Centred Planning. Having previous experience of working with behaviour that may challenge will also be very useful. Experience of supporting autistic people and knowledge of safeguarding issues are essential.
The right applicant will be able to share experiences when they have successfully supported challenging individuals in a community setting and be able to site examples where they have improved service users’ quality of life.
The post requires the candidate to be able to work a 7 hour shift between the hours of 8:30am- 5pm from Monday to Friday excluding Bank Holidays. The delivery of personal care while preserving service user’s dignity is also required. The candidate must also be prepared to support and participate in activities such as swimming, community outings etc.
This post is on a full time permanent basis. Candidates need to have completed Care Certificate ideally, or willing to complete this qualification.
