We are looking for a Development Management (DM) Planning Officer and a Planning Enforcement Officer whom both have the drive and ambition to help us deliver an excellent service, alongside a true desire to shape and improve the borough. Hertsmere lies within southern Hertfordshire bordering the northern edge of Greater London. We’re in the process of preparing a positive vision for growth within the borough through the preparation of our new Local Plan. We’re also working to provide a Joint Strategic Plan for the region and striving to deliver quality focused Development Management (DM) and Planning Enforcement services which meet the needs of existing and future residents.
As a DM Planning Officer you will be responsible for handling a varied caseload of applications including small householder, changes of use and new build applications as well as being responsible for providing pre-application advice. As a Planning Enforcement Officer you will primarily be required to investigate alleged breaches of planning control, pursuing the most appropriate and effective action to remedy these.
The large salary range reflects that we’re wishing to appoint the right person regardless of what stage you’ve reached in your career. The starting salary would reflect the successful applicant circumstances:
Grade 11/10 – an applicant with appropriate qualifications to enable commencement of a relevant undergraduate degree
Grade 9 – an applicant with an appropriate undergraduate degree recognised by the RTPI
Grade 8 – would be for an applicant with an appropriate post-graduate degree recognised by the RTPI and working toward chartered Membership of the RTPI (or equivalent)
Applicants who wish to study to do a BA/MA will be provided with on-the-job training and sponsored to undertake the appropriate University course, including day release.
The posts are offered on a full time, permanent basis (36 hours per week).
