As the council’s new Principal Planning Officer, you will lead a team of planning professionals in assisting applicants in their submissions and providing professional advice to all customers including applicants, agents, members of the public and Elected Members.
In this varied and interesting role, you will assist the council with its broad variety of proposals and development opportunities.All the while also supporting the Planning Development Manager in managing applications and appeals that are of a strategic, controversial and/or complex nature and deputising for them as your skills develop.
For the right candidate this role allows ample scope to develop your career and level of influence through interesting challenges and senior decision making.
 
About you
 
To be successful in this role you will be a qualified planner, with significant post qualification experience and a full UK driving licence. Whilst you may not yet be a member of RITP you will be ready and willing to gain membership with the support of Tonbridge & Malling Borough Council.
 
The most important attribute we are looking for in a candidate is outstanding technical knowledge. However, local authority line management experience would also be advantageous.
