Bracknell Forest Council is looking for a Waste and Recycling Manager. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, confident, well organised with a passion for improving the environment.
The position is part of a small but busy Environmental Services team, you will manage two waste and recycling officers. As a team you will work towards improving the recycling rate and minimising waste to landfill. Key to this is good communications. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential. Promotional activities make up a proportion of the teams work and the Waste and Recycling Manager is required to lead on this. You must be able to give competent presentations to community groups and schools as well as generally dealing with residents and answering their questions and complaints.
Good working knowledge of the waste industry is essential, including being aware of how the recently published waste and resources strategy may affect Bracknell Forest. The ability to analyse waste tonnages and identify trends is important as well as being able to present the findings clearly in reports.
Bracknell Forest Council prides itself on having excellent relationships with partners and contractors; you will need to build and maintain good working relationships with the waste collection contractor and manage the day to day performance of this contract.
Bracknell Forest has almost 50,000 properties and this is expected to increase substantially in the coming years good knowledge of the planning process would be advantageous.
