We are recruiting for a Senior Building Surveyor (Design) to be based in Kingston-Upon-Thames working for Surrey County Council leading a team of Building Surveying and Structural Surveying professionals in the delivery of maintenance projects and minor works with a value ranging from £2k up to circa £500k.
You will have the skills and abilities to technically advise and lead on projects but also oversee the work of the team, ensuring your team carry out the duties required under NEC and JCT forms of contract.
We are looking for an excellent leader with proven key skills:
- Showing a fantastic ability to communicate technical messages to all levels of staff from Directors, to Senior Leaders to Graduates;
- With previous knowledge and background to improve processes and ways of working in line with the Service objectives;
- Who has the ambition to inspire and mentor junior colleagues, challenge decisions and share ideas across the teams and services to support continuous improvement and change;
- Vast experience of managing and delivering a variety of projects in a fast paced environment, where projects are delivered on time and to budget;
A typical day could include:
- Carrying out staff 121s and appraisals;
- Develop and implementing technical and performance standards for build projects;
- Monitoring supplier performance against deliverables to inform supplier performance reviews as appropriate;
- Managing large and complex projects successfully;
The successful candidate will have an ambitious nature and will thrive on the challenge of mentoring and developing a relatively new team of Surveyors and Graduates. You will be working on specific Property and Project based IT systems and will need to be adaptable and competent in this area of technology.
