Islington Council, with funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund, are undertaking a project to repair the Grade II Listed Caledonian Clock Tower and create a new visitor centre and community café. The project will significantly increase public access to the heritage of the site and improve people’s understanding of its historical significance.
To ensure that this outcome is delivered, the council is looking to recruit a motivated individual who will lead on the development and implementation of a programme of community engagement and participation for Caledonian Park Clock Tower and the wider park. The post holder will have a key role in developing and establishing activities, managing volunteers and help ensure the day to day operations in the Clock Tower, Visitor Centre and Park are carried out to ensure a safe and welcoming environment.
The successful applicant will need to be able demonstrate they have the following knowledge and skills:
- Experience of working in a heritage site, park or similar cultural environment
- Good project management skills with the ability to schedule events, prioritise tasks and complete work to time and budget
- Knowledge of, and commitment to, the educational role of heritage sites and parks and awareness of current issues facing urban parks
