You will take responsibility for delivering a full range of mortuary activities and take personal responsibility for the undertaking of all duties related to admission, identification and safe storage of deceased bodies for post mortem in accordance with the services procedures.
You will assist pathologists with post mortem examinations in-line with protocols, including high-risk cases when required and work out of hours on forensic cases as and when required. You will work under the Human Tissue Authority (HTA) Licence supporting the designated individual.
You will work with community safety and emergency management to assist with the development and testing of emergency response plans. You also will facilitate viewings and police identifications in conjunction with the Coroner’s Office.
The role required employees to work on an on call rota which is one week in three.
The post holder will be required to hold a Diploma in Anatomical Pathology Technology or equivalent and have demonstrable experience of working in a mortuary setting. Experience in high risk and forensic post mortems would be welcomed.
You will hold technical knowledge of mortuary policy, procedure and human anatomy as well as a good understanding of health and safety legislation and working in compliance with SOP and HTA guidelines.
A resilient individual, you will have the ability to deal with difficult situations and manage sensitive information securely. You will have the ability to take an organised approach to your own workload, working individually and as part of a team, whilst dealing with conflicting priorities and ensure a customer service focussed approach.
This role is subject to an enhanced DBS check.
