The Transport Planner will advise the planning department on the highway safety and transportation implications of new development proposals. This will include advice on how we can minimise new trips by car through promotion of sustainable, alternative modes of transport but, where this is not feasible, working alongside our engineers to establish how we can ensure new traffic is a safely accommodated on the highway network without creating congestion.
We are therefore looking for an individual with a level 6 qualification (e.g. degree) in Transport Planning or Civil Engineering or extensive equivalent experience working within either the Transport Planning, Highways Development Control, Highway Design, Traffic Management or Road Safety Disciplines. This could be within either the public or private sectors.
There is an opportunity to progress within the role to gradually deal with more complex and challenging work as you gain the necessary knowledge and experience, which will sand you in good stead should you be interested in advancing your career further.
