About the role
Two exciting opportunities have arisen for Licensing Officers to join our ambitious and dynamic shared Environmental Health and Licensing Partnership at Mole Valley and Tandridge District Councils, and to become valued members of a friendly and professional team.

Initially the position based in the Mole Valley offices will have responsibilities for taxi, alcohol and entertainment licensing and the position based in the Tandridge offices will focus on taxi licensing as this is a new function for the shared service in this district. However both roles will expand to include all areas of licensing, including gambling and scrap metal, presenting a range of stimulating challenges.
The successful candidate will have a varied range of duties, including the processing of licensing applications, writing reports to Sub-Committees, responding to complaints, and proactive compliance and enforcement work where necessary. This may include investigating, preparing and taking cases to Court.

Opportunities will be provided to make a difference to the local community and contribute to the success of our shared service, within a supportive environment that will allow you to develop your own knowledge and professional skills.

You will be working in a beautiful part of the country, amongst the Surrey Hills. You will principally working in either the Tandridge or Mole Valley Districts, though you may have to occasionally work throughout the shared service area depending on circumstance and demand. The job will involve occasional work outside normal working hours.

About you
The ideal candidate will have experience working in licensing, or equivalent experience working in enforcement or regulatory administration.

Enthusiastic and self-motivated, you will manage your own caseload within tight timelines – possessing good time management and organizational skills, combined with a good eye for detail.

You will have effective presentation and communication skills at all levels, and able to contribute effectively to team working.

You are prepared to take the appropriate action when necessary to ensure compliance with relevant policies, procedures and legislation.

You will hold a current valid driving licence, and either possess or be willing to work towards a recognised Licensing Practitioner qualification.
