Southend-on-Sea Borough Council is a unitary authority based in the heart of the town centre offering traditional seaside living that makes it a great place to live and work. This diverse and busy town has great public parks and leisure activities, competitive house pricing and excellent travel links. The Council are looking to appoint a Capital Programme and Project Support Officer to support the delivery of the Place capital programme comprising of public buildings within the borough.
Your new role
As the Capital Programme and Project Support Officer you will support the delivery of the Place capital programme which has an annual value of £50m and includes a wide range of projects. The role will support two of Southend’s biggest regeneration projects which are the Airport Business Park and Better Queensway. These projects are key elements of the Southend 2050 vision. Working closely with the Capital Programme Manager you will support the development of new capital projects through the project approval process and assist in the implementation and delivery of the project. This is likely to include managing and monitoring documentation and budget monitoring.
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful for this role you will need to have a strong background in project management (Prince 2 preferred) and have excellent organisational and communication skills. You will work across the Council with developers and partners and therefore the ability to build and maintain positive working relationships is essential.
