Our purpose is to undertake the financial transactions within the Children’s service, ensuring that we are complying with statutory and auditory processes in a lean and efficient way.
The Finance Admin Team is responsible for the payment of all aspects of purchased goods and services for the Children’s service. It ensures that we are safe in relation to payments to third parties, agencies and clients and adheres to Surrey County Council invoicing processes, working directly with the social care teams and our corporate colleagues. As the Finance Assistant you will provide co-ordinated and comprehensive financial support throughout the Directorate in accordance with the County and Directorate Financial Procedures.
You will support the budget planning and monitoring activities for the Directorate budget. You will work collaboratively with team members to provide a high quality and efficient finance service to support the overall aim to improve outcomes for children.
You will undertake routine financial functions, use SAP and assist in the accountancy cycle of budget monitoring and closure of accounts. You will play a key role in the provision of a high quality and responsive finance service to operational teams and front-line staff. Continuously applying improvements to increase customer satisfaction, you will work collaboratively to maintain a consistency of approach across the Directorate.
You will work together with the Finance Team Leader (FTL) to establish objectives and take responsibility for managing a workload, organising and prioritising work to meet strict financial deadlines. Regularly updating the FO on workload status and raising any potential problems in meeting deadlines. You will work as part of a team and build positive relationships with team members and practitioners.

•Experience of working within a busy transactional finance team.
•An ability to problem solve, prioritise a workload, working unsupervised & across different software.
•Flexibility to multitask & still maintain a high standard of customer service.
•Sound financial & general office experience.
