RURAL CRAFTSPERSON / ESTATE WORKER
Full Time. Salary: £20,344 - £22,462 pa
Hertfordshire County Council’s Rural Estates Team are looking for an enthusiastic, skilled and dedicated person to help manage its woodland, farmland trees, open space and public access routes across the county.
The role will predominantly involve estate maintenance tasks including:-
- Assisting in new woodland tree planting,
- Carrying out ad hoc tree inspections and providing reports of tree condition.
- Felling dead/dangerous/wind-blown trees.
- Topping and strimming grass.
- Cutting hedges.
- Spraying around newly planted trees and dealing with unwanted weeds.
- Minor gate and fence repairs.
- Litter picking and clearing flytipping
The successful candidate will hold an NPTC CS30 and CS31 chainsaw certificate and ideally a NPTC PA1 and PA6 pesticide certificate or similar and have demonstrable working experience of use. A familiarity with tractor driving is advantageous. Previous experience of strimmer and chipper use and a full driving licence is essential.
The position is full time with set working hours of Monday to Thursday 7:30am to 4:00pm and Friday 7:30am to 3pm. The base for this team is currently in Aldenham however this will be changing to Kings Langley from the 1st September 2019.
