Wokingham Borough Council is an exciting and dynamic Borough with diverse Countryside Estate that includes 3 Country Parks (including significant commercial interests), over 100 hectares of Nature Reserves and 100 hectares of Suitable Alternative Natural Greenspaces (SANGs). The Borough is experiencing a major programme of residential development which will include the additional Countryside Sites.
We require an experienced professional Countryside Officer to join our Management Team and to oversee the management of the Borough’s Countryside Estate and to support the extensive commercial interests of the Service. The Countryside Officer will be expected to: lead the Council’s estates management team, develop work programmes, plan for the maintenance of the Borough’s Public Rights of Way network, organise conservation work parties, support the commercial activities at the Country Parks and to liaise with volunteer groups, Parish Councils and elected members.
Applicants should be qualified to degree level and have at least 5years experience of working in countryside management including a good working knowledge of countryside recreation and conservation management practises. Applicants should be well organised with excellent written and verbal communication skills and preferably experience of staff management.
