Wirral Council requires an experienced and competent historic environment professional with the necessary skills base for the provision of specialist advice in the Council's planning and development processes for the Borough to provide maternity cover until 28 February 2020.
You will work within a supportive planning team comprising of planning officers, planning enforcement as well as other specialists. The post involves a range of work including managing listed building consent applications; advising on planning applications and guiding new developments and regeneration projects that have historic environment implications and conservation area review and characterisation.
Wirral Council's area has a diverse historic environment, including the uniquely important Port Sunlight Village. There are almost 2,000 listed buildings with the Borough together with 26 conservation areas and a number of Historic Parks and Gardens, including Birkenhead Park.
You will need to have a degree in a relevant subject and membership of or working towards IHBC is preferable. You should be able to demonstrate experience with a proven track record of giving effective historic environment advice within the planning process and achieving excellent results. This will include experience of historic environment work in the planning field and knowledge and understanding of national and local historic environment policy and legislation.
