From £21,090 up to £25,587 per annum

You will undertake “asset based” assessments with customers, meeting people in the office and in their homes, with a view to understanding the person and identifying and agreeing steps that can be taken by both the Council and the customer, to prevent and tackle homelessness in sustainable and appropriate ways.
The role includes assessing people under the new statutory homelessness framework and providing advice regarding the Council’s statutory duties to prevent and relieve homelessness. You will determine applications for assistance in accordance with all relevant legal requirements. You will also provide advice about the Housing Register, accessing temporary accommodation, and support people to secure private rented sector accommodation.
This role will require partnership working with a range of other agencies and organisations across the statutory and voluntary sectors.
Whilst we are open minded about relevant previous experience, a passion for helping customers, and a working knowledge of housing, landlord and tenant legislation, including issues such as protection from eviction and harassment, and welfare benefits, may be an advantage. Overall, however, your attitude may be the most important factor in securing this role.
