Provide a high visibility presence within the Chatham Town Centre area to assist and reassure business users, stakeholders, residents and visitors.
Carry out uniformed patrol both individually and in conjunction with partnership agencies.
To prevent reduce and investigate Anti-Social Behaviour, including disorderly behaviour, aggressive begging, graffiti and street drinking with an aim to create a safe and welcoming environment.
Undertake routine inspections of public areas to ensure compliance with environmental standards including business waste compliance, highways obstruction, fly-tipping, fly-posting, abandoned vehicles and street scene regulation conformity.
Enforce relevant legislation relating to by-laws, orders, environmental crime and anti-social behaviour.
Keep detailed evidential records, take witness statements and when necessary issue orders, warnings, notices, fixed penalty notices and prepare prosecution files.
Present evidence at Criminal and Civil Court.
Develop strong and lasting links with partnership agencies, including Kent Police, Kent Fire and Rescue Service, internal council departments, health and mental health services and any other necessary organisation including those in the voluntary sector.
Become Medway Council’s first point of contact in Chatham Town Centre for the community, business providers, other stakeholders, voluntary groups and visitors.
Work with agencies including those within the voluntary sector to address rough sleeping and homelessness.
- A good standard of general education including GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
- CSAS qualified.
- S.I.A Qualified.
- Qualification or training in environmental and/or anti-social behaviour enforcement.
- Evidenced training in PREVENT, WRAP and Child/Adult safeguarding.
