As Head of Commissioning & Procurement, you will shape and lead our approach to the commissioning, procurement and contract management of our Adults and Health services and be the commissioning lead for our health and social care integration agenda. You will lead and transform a key enabling service, providing advice and support that influences strategy, energises policy development, and supports the organisation to deliver its ambitious plans. About the role
We are looking for an exceptional candidate who will develop a service that for the first time in Croydon will deliver end to end commissioning, procurement and contract management for adults and health services. You will:
- Partner closely and strategically with Directors across Croydon Council and its partners and providers
- Lead and develop whole systems and outcomes based commissioning and innovative procurement solutions, aiming to modernise services, improve quality and drive down cost
- Lead market development, strategic supplier management and contract management, including supporting the delivery of our objective to “buy local”
- Drive on going improvement through effective performance management
Our integration agenda is well advanced; you will have a key role in leading and shaping One Croydon, our ground breaking and award winning alliance of health and social care providers and commissioners.
As Head of Commissioning & Procurement, you will ultimately be responsible for shaping, commissioning and procuring services that are fit for the future to support all of our residents. Our services will be multi-disciplinary, provided to meet local community needs, build resilience and provide seamless care.

This is a role for a leader with a track record of building teams. Credible and effective when partnering with Chief Officers and Elected Members, you will have outstanding stakeholder and relationship management skills, including experience of strategic supplier management. You will bring a strong understanding of local government and the wider public sector context, strong commercial acumen and be able to demonstrate deep experience of the commissioning, procurement and contract management of adults and health services. Ambitious both for yourself and the residents you serve, you will recognise Croydon as a place where you can learn and progress in an environment that is innovative, ambitious and has a good appetite for risk.
