If you’re looking for real quality of life then take a close look at East Sussex. The East Sussex Building Control Shared Service, comprised of Wealden and Rother District Councils, and Eastbourne and Hastings Borough Councils, covers from the Ashdown Forest in the North down to the south coast, yet is within easy reach of London. When it comes to work we can offer a stimulating environment which is based on a sound customer care approach where we retain the vast majority of building projects, receiving close to 2500 building regulation applications a year.
We are now looking for a well organised professional with appropriate qualifications (RICS, CABE, CIOB), and experience in building control to join our team. You will be responsible for your own area within the partnerships boundaries and will need to communicate well with all our customers including building contractors, architects and developers, as you will carry out site inspections, examine plans etc to ensure that all development complies with the building regulations and reflects the approved plans submitted. You will also have had experience of dealing with dangerous structure as you will be expected to participate on the duty rota for out of hours dangerous structure calls for which an additional allowance is payable.
In return we offer an excellent package, including competitive salary, career average salary pension scheme, an employee benefit scheme offering a range of discounts and salary sacrifice schemes, flexitime, some homeworking and discounted leisure centre membership.
Wealden District Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults, and expects all employees and volunteers to share this commitment.
This post is available as a job share if you are looking for part time hours.
