Description

Great opportunities to teach for Surrey Adult Learning

Surrey Adult Learning employs up to 300 part time tutors to deliver learning for adults. The role is focussed on teaching, inspiring and supporting adult learners to successfully complete their course/qualification.

We offer a wide range of courses including English, maths, Arts & Crafts, EFL, Languages, Humanities, Cookery, Exercise, Dance, Work Skills & IT and ESOL. In addition we have specific courses run by our Supported Learning, Family Learning, Outreach and Passport to Wellbeing teams.

We can offer you an hourly rate of £20.44 to £24.52 per hour, plus 14% or 16% annual leave entitlement dependent on length of service with Surrey County Council. This rate includes preparation time and travelling. We also offer many other benefits such as a local government salary related pension and an annual training programme offering continual learning where applicable.

This is a zero hours (bank) contract. The amount of work you are offered will depend on the number and type of courses scheduled. A typical course could run over one, two, or three terms for up to two hours per week (day and/or evening classes) as well as occasional Saturday workshops. Please note that in some cases courses might not be viable due to low enrolments and may be cancelled.

Classes run in the north and south west of Surrey and are based around seven main centres: Guildford, Camberley, Farnham , Woking , Esher Green, Sunbury and Molesey. Family Learning and Outreach courses are run across Surrey in schools and Community Centres.

Surrey County Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We want to be an inclusive and diverse employer of first choice reflecting the community we serve and particularly welcome applications from all under represented groups.

An enhanced DBS 'Disclosure and Barring Service' check for regulated activity (formerly known as CRB) and the Children's and Adults' Barred List checks may be required for some roles.

About the role

Tutors are required to have qualifications/expertise in their subject area as well as a teaching qualification (or be working towards one), such as the Level 3 award in Education & Training, and to have experience of teaching adults.

Please note, due to the number and variety of positions available, this advert is ongoing and applications will be considered upon receipt rather than the advert deadline.
