An opportunity has arisen for a suitably experienced person to join a busy Public Rights of Way Team. The successful candidate will be required to meet the challenges around maintaining 850 km of Public Rights of Way overseeing vegetation clearance, surface management and repair of structures.
The aim of this role is to continue improving access on the Public Rights of Way network as well as responding to enquiries and reports from stakeholders. You will also be required to carry out infrequent enforcement action in line with legislation. You will need to demonstrate an understanding of the role that rights of way play in contributing to the health benefits for the public and be innovative in your approach to enhancing those benefits. This will be achieved through specialist or technical skills that have been gained through qualifications and/or practical experience.
You must be able to access the Public Rights of Way network which may not be fully accessible for disabled people. You will be required to walk the length of paths and sometimes this will be in excess of 10 km. You will be responsible for creating appropriate work plans/programmes for your own workload. You should have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and be computer literate. You should hold a valid driving licence and may be required to work outside of normal office hours to deal with emergencies and community events.
