Wandsworth Regeneration Team is expanding giving you the opportunity to play an important role in delivering large scale, high profile, complex estate regeneration programmes. This post is focused on the implementation of a substantial redevelopment scheme on the iconic Alton Estate in Roehampton, and the exceptionally well linked Winstanley and York Road Estates in Clapham Junction. This involves the development of over 3,500 new homes across the two schemes including new Council homes and the development of new neighbourhoods with associated retail and community infrastructure (including a new leisure centre, libraries, youth and children's provision, health facilities, new secondary school, new nursery school and wider public realm improvements).
Working to the Regeneration team manager of either scheme as part of a wider team serving both schemes, regeneration project officers focus on consultation and engagement with local residents and stakeholders through engaging them in the design and planning of their new homes and neighbourhoods, to the delivery of a new home to an individual family. Lots of exciting opportunities are available to deliver the aspirations of the council to improve life chances for residents of the estates and surrounding area.
We are looking for a dynamic and positive individual to work as part of our team. You must be confident and calm in situations which may be uncomfortable, and have an ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing, whilst having empathy for others in what can be a stressful conversation.
You will need solid experience in an administration role, being able to demonstrate your first rate organisation skills, report writing and sound IT abilities. This is an often pressurised position, so you will need an ability to prioritise your workload to meet regularly changing demands of the role and the rest of the team. Experience in cross departmental working would be an advantage and the ability to network and link up services and clients is key.
The grade is a linked grade with progression opportunities to lead on project work streams, so experience of delivering projects would be advantageous but is not a requirement.
Wandsworth Council is committed to an ambitious programme of regeneration and new council house building and has allocated substantial funds to delivering this over the next ten years. The estate regeneration strategy forms the major element of this programme and the regeneration team has been set up and is now expanding further to ensure a successful outcome. The Council has agreed master-plans and procured development partners, and is now in a position to deliver.
You will be part of a small team of motivated, pro-active people who are committed to working effectively with local people and in delivering real change and high quality new neighbourhoods. You will need to have experience and knowledge of the development of public sector housing.
