West Berkshire are seeking to recruit Intervention Workers who has experience and passion in working with vulnerable children, young people and families. You will join the Targeted Intervention Service (TIS) which is part of Children and Family Services (CFS).
The TIS deliver time-limited interventions to families in need which includes providing help to:
• Early Help support
• Children or Young People on the Edge of Care
• Families at risk of Breakdown
• Parental Substance Misuse
• Parental Mental Health concerns
• Domestic Abuse
• Children and Young People at risk of, or subject to, Exploitation
• Children or Young People who have gone missing from care or home
We are looking for an enthusiastic, flexible and self-disciplined Intervention Worker, who can deliver high quality interventions to children, young people and families. You will need to be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with children and their families in order to work to agreed goals and achieve positive change. We aim to provide help in partnership with families as part of an agreed plan to reduce risk and need.
You will be part of a busy and supportive team committed to providing an excellent service. We offer a comprehensive induction and training programme to build on your skills. Based in the market town of Newbury, you will work across West Berkshire visiting families in their homes as well as attending multi-agency meetings.
This role has been identified as public facing in accordance with Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2017; the requirement to fulfil all spoken aspects of the role with confidence in English applies.

This role requires the incumbent to have a car available at work to undertake his/her duties as they will be expected to undertake at least 1500 business miles per year. Essential Car User status attracts a lump sum allowance paid on a monthly basis as well as a free car parking space if he/she works at one of the Council’s corporate buildings.
