The Role

The Financial Accountant will be responsible for the efficient and effective operation of the accounting function of Falkland Islands Government. As well as preparation of year-end financial statements though to audit, you will also be responsible for the accurate and timely processing of financial transactions and ensuring that effective controls and reconciliations are in place.

You will have three direct reports and be part of the wider Treasury team. You will have the opportunity to be involved in a wide range of work including investment accounting, pensions, preparation of reports and improvement of processes. You will need to be a team-player and lead by example, as well as being able to develop effective working relationships.

The Person

The successful candidate should hold a CCAB recognised formal accountancy qualification with three years relevant experience and ideally previous experience of managing a team and/or staff supervisory experience.  

The Package

  • Initial 2-4 Years Fixed Term Contract, with potential for extension by mutual agreement.
  • Salary Range £45-55k, inclusive of the 25% Gratuity. Starting salaries will be dependent upon qualifications and experience.
  • 30 Days Annual Leave, plus government and public holidays (totalling 41 days leave).
  • Relocation Allowance, to help with moving costs.
  • Flights Package for you and your dependents, including mid-term return flight home.
  • Government Housing for rent at a subsidised rate and a starter pack to help you settle in.
