This is an exciting opportunity to join Reading’s Primary Mental Health Team and the Trailblazer Project. As part of the Trailblazer Project, Reading’s PMHWs are co-leading the development of Mental Health Support Teams, in partnership with Reading University and CAMHS. We are looking for an experienced Senior Primary Mental Health Worker to help co-lead and develop this project with an Educational Psychologist. You will be working in a multi-professional team including Education Welfare Officers, Family Workers, Youth Workers, Children Centre staff and Educational Psychologists who deliver help and support to children, young people and their families.

Working closely with schools and specialist CAMH services, you will need to have a minimum of three years’ experience working with children or young people with emotional or behavioural problems and their families and undertaking mental health assessments and providing appropriate interventions. You will also be responsible for providing, consultation and liaison with other professionals, training and advice to staff as well as direct work with children, young people with mild-to moderate mental health difficulties (Tier 2) and their families.

A core professional qualification in mental health, psychology, social work or another relevant therapeutic area is required for this role. Registration with an appropriate professional body and evidence of post-registration training, learning and development.
