Are you a qualified secondary English teacher looking for a new challenge? The Falkland Islands offers teachers a unique opportunity to live and work overseas in a beautiful and vibrant island community, teaching within an English school system.

Our well established and fully inclusive Secondary School is seeking to recruit an enthusiastic, creative and experienced English Teacher to start in September 2019. The successful applicant will join a well-resourced school with a supportive staff team, small class sizes and students who are keen to learn. The English department is well equipped and resourced.

We are seeking to recruit an English Teacher who:

  • is a graduate teacher with Qualified Teacher Status (recognisable in UK) who has completed the statutory induction year as an NQT and has 2 or more years post NQT experience teaching English at a good or better standard.
  • is focussed on teaching and learning, helping students achieve high levels of progress in a positive and effective learning environment.
  • is able to efficiently manage support staff (technicians, LSA etc) to ensure the smooth running of the department and students receive the support they require.

The Package:

  • A stimulating and supportive working environment with enthusiastic children who are keen to learn.
  • Basic starting salary up to £38,740 per annum depending on experience.
  • A TLR may be available to candidates who demonstrate the ability to take on extra cross-curriculum responsibilities.
  • Initial 2-4 years contract term, with potential for extension by mutual agreement.
  • Eligibility for a 25% gratuity payable upon satisfactory completion of the contract.
  • Flights to and from the Falkland Islands for you and recognised dependents.
  • Relocation allowance to help with moving costs.
  • Accommodation to rent and a starter pack to help you settle in.
  • Free education locally for dependent children to GCSE level.
  • Favourable rates of income tax.

Primary and secondary education follows the English National Curriculum, from Early Years Foundation Stage to the end of Key Stage 4 (including SATs and GCSEs).
