Job Summary

This post will lead on the delivery of the Childcare Offer in Blaenau Gwent and Torfaen and build on the successful roll out of the programme to date.

This post can also be offered as a secondment opportunity. Before applying for this as a secondment opportunity, candidates should seek approval to be released from their current post by their Line Manager.  Secondments are available to permanent staff of the Authority only.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Childcare Offer team in Blaenau Gwent to support the delivery of Welsh Government’s Childcare Offer to the residents of Blaenau Gwent and Torfaen.

You will be responsible for implementation of the offer within both Torfaen and Blaenau Gwent and will make links across the local authorities, with the childcare sector, schools, umbrella bodies, parents/carers and other stakeholders to ensure the good levels of engagement and the continued success of the programme.

You will oversee the work undertaken by the Childcare Offer team and will review all systems to ensure they meet the needs of the service. You will also work with the Welsh Government to support the next phase of the programme.  You will be expected to work with pace, energy and enthusiasm to ensure the Offer is the best it can be for the parent, child and provider.

Essential experience and skills include, but are not limited to:

  • A proven record in managing and delivering projects.
  • Experience of supervising staff/leading a team.
  • A good understanding/experience of the childcare sector.
  • Experience of working effectively and in co-operation with a wide range of internal and external partners.
  • Experience of setting up and reviewing systems to deliver a public facing service.

The position carries an Approved Casual Car User Allowance therefore access to a vehicle for work purposes is a requirement.

Thorough pre-employment screening is undertaken during the recruitment process. The postholder will be required to complete an application for a Disclosure of Criminal Records.
